  1. is there a a guide that will show how to rip a dvd to a dvdr and retain the menu and all the extras?

i found many guids to rip the main movie, but cant figure out how to get the menus too.

i tried to rename the new vob files and replace the originals with them, but apparently thats not the way to do it.

can some one please point me in the right direction?

  2. well you can waste a 100 bucks and buy dvdxcopy. that is if its a dvd9. if its a dvd5 just use dvd decrypter which is free. copies the whole dvd. those are the easiest way of doing it.

DOOM9.net has guides [The Guides/DVD], but doing such is IMHO a major pain in the ass. I'd rather spend the $20.00 for the DVD, or just rip the movie only, than go thru all those steps.

  4. Check out the how to section here for.....DVD9 to DVD5 keeping menus the easy way by jarvis. I tried his method and it works just fine. But you must have all the programs he says to use or it doesn't work. Just check it out.

    hey thanks man

I appreciate it. Yes, my method really takes no "extra" time at all. Perhaps only 30 seconds longer than just a normal rip and re-author.

Once you have the movie part you just load up the chapters and ifoupdate. Really quick and not too complicated. But yes, you must have all the programs.

  6. I found the easiest way is Nero. You choose "DVD" on the click menu or wizard (it starts as "CD" in the menu, and gives you the DVD or CD option in the first step of the wizard). Then you click "COPY"

The only step when you copy is to choose where to put the image file if you only have 1 dvd drive (like me), but if you have 2 dvd drives (one a recorder) you can even copy on the fly.

The whole process for a dvd takes about 40 min to save to image file (with all menus, an exact copy) and then about 30 min to burn at 1x.

dvdxcopy is supposed to work the same, but I've found it a bit buggy. All the dvd-r's I've burned (over 20 diff. ones) all worked in mine and a friend of mine's standalone players.

  7. Thanks for the quick reply.

where can i find jarvi's guide. i cant find it in the how to sec.

i did a search for jarvis posts about this, and i think i figured out how to do it, but to see a guide with step by step instructions would be nice.

btw, i do have all the nessesary programs.

    thanks.
