  1. HELP Please!!!
I've ripped alot of movies, but lately I'm having problems. I'm using Smartripper> DVD2AVI>TMPGnc2.57>VCDEasy. My problem is the last few movies I've done, the sound is low and every now and then in the movie it jerks, the movie go very fast and then back to normal. Any suggest, I didn't have this problem before. It just started a week ago. OS Win98.

    Thanks, for any help.

  2. i've had a similar problem lately also. some of the vcd's i've created recently jerk or stop playing every 5-10 seconds or so. this never happened before and i'm almost certain i'm using the same settings and software. only two things i can think of at the moment, new version of TMPEnc or my vbr's minimum bitrate is getting too low for one of my players.
have you recently upgrade TMPEnc? was it after this you noticed the problem?

  3. No, I didn't upgrade anything. I found my problem. When I first started doing this I would encode one disc at a time. Then, I got smart and decide to do the whole movie. After the first disc finished and the next started, I would go back a few frames, so I could pick up a little bit where the movie ended before I changed the CD's, I guess that confussed Tmpge. So I went back to my old way. Encode and burn one disc at a time. No more jerkyness or low sound. I hope this helps.

vbr??? then you must be making a non-standard xVCD because standard VCD 2.0 uses ONLY cbr. so, perhaps by making your VCD into a non-compliant xVCD, your dvd player may not like it.

also, make sure you burn no faster than 4x.

  5. You can increase your sound volume in tmpgenc by going to the audio tab, use the edit feature and increase the volume to 200%.
