  1. I am trying to figure out how to convert divx/avi format to VCD. Ive tryed most of the advice in convert section of vcdhelp.com they dont work.
    I was wondering if some one knows of a program that will convert them.
    Ive tryed TMPGEnc Plus Version 2.58 it keeps giving me illegal stream format. the movie file plays on divx 5.0 player. I am just needing some help anyone has any advice?

  2. Normally, TMpegEnc should give you absolutely compliant streams. Maybe you have not set all the parameters according to the VCD standard?

    Video
    Frame rate: 23.976, 29.97 (NTSC) ; 25 (PAL)
    Frame size: 352x240 (NTSC) ; 352x288 (PAL)
    Encoding: MPEG-1

    Audio
    Sampling rate: 44.100 Hz
    Bit rate: 224 kbps
    Encoding: MPEG-1 Layer 2

    Remember also to properly resize your video. I always use 352 as width, then calculate the height with the formula
    (source-height/source-width)*352. After that I letterbox the video to fit the 240/288 pixel standard height.
