I'm trying to convert Vanilla Sky using TMPGEnc and I can't seem to get the picture the way I want it. I have set it to Full screen (keep aspect ratio) but every time I convert it does not look the same as the original does. The movie is widescreen but when I convert it is more narrow (square like). I've tried other settings and nothing seems to work.
Thanks

for what i know of, you can't put all the screen if is wide screen in full screen. in the second you change to "full screen", you will loose the top and bottem black borders AS WELL AS a little from the sides. that's the beauty of wide screen.
if i am wrong, please someone correct me. -
If you're converting it to SVCD it will change it to a square block only if you watch it in Windows Media Player. If you watch it using PowerDVD or burn it on a cd and watch it on a DVD player it will be the way the original was.

Thank you for the help. It was the windows media player that made it look that way. Thanks for this great site!

I kept it from narrowing the image by...
1. set the aspect ratio under the video tab to 4:3
2. Set the advanced aspect ratio for "source" to 4:3 ntsc
3. set it to full screen (maintain aspect ratio)
This always gives me a correctly sized widescreen result.
Hope that helps.
