I used TMPGEnc to encode an avi to a .m2v and .mpa in order to use ifoEdit and create a DVD, which worked perfectly. I decided to attempt to use SpruceUp! or DVD Maestro and found that the .mpa did not want to import.

What I did was I took the original .avi and demux'd it to tear the audio out, creating a .wav file. The wav, I then took and encoded into .ac3 format using AACMachine/BeSweet. This file then worked successfully in both SpruceUp! and DVDMaestro, BUT only had right channel (blasted mono source from a Beta machine).

So I thought I'd attempt to take the wav, duplicate the R channel to the L, save it and re-encode. Unfortunately this created Media errors when I attempted to load it into SpruceUp! and DVD Maestro both.

Can someone tell me if I am missing a step or did something wrong? I was able to get good sound out of the original mpa but had alot of issues with this original sound file working in numerous programs.... while the .ac3 worked the first time (with only R channel sound and mute L channel) it didnt work the second time (with the R and L channel being the same in wav format)...

    any ideas?

A bit of an oddity... I was able to take the .wav file that I had duplicated the R and L channel in and it worked in both SpruceUp and DVDMaestro.

While this works it is not the work around I was hoping for...

Still attempting to get ac3 files working properly.....
Things I have tried to encode the audio:
BeSweet - both aac and ac3 format
the audio encoded w/ TMPGEnc to mp2

The only sound source that appears to now work properly is the wav ripped from the .avi file in DVD2AVI (at least that is the program I think I used...not at home so can't verify it)

    Thanks
