  1. Hi,
I'm using the Nero v5.5.9 to burn SVCDs. I just had a few questions I hope I can get help on:

    1. What is joliet? I'm using windows 2000 so do I check it or not when making SVCDs, VCDs, etc...?
    2. In the "Burn" tab, under write speed, I cannot select a lower speed to burn my SVCDs. I know that if you have problems with SVCD playback, it's best to try burning at lower speed, but I DON'T have that option. My CDrewriter is 40x10x40, and the only option in Nero is 40X, what can I do?

The standard CD filesystem is ISO9660, which is very basic and limited - 8.3 filenames, all uppercase. Joliet is a Microsoft extension to ISO9660 to allow Windows long filenames. You don't want to use it for VCD/SVCD.
