  2. if you convert your miniDV to VCD you won't get a good result. because VCD only a low bitrate and low resolution format! try convert to SVCD or DVD.

Try using TMPGEnc to convert to MPEG then VCDEasy to author your disc. If you want the disc to play on the most possible DVD players just use the VCD template in the Project Wizard and change only the motion search precision to high or highest. If you're less concerned about compatibility and just want better quality use 2pass VBR instead of CBR. I use a maximum bitrate of 2520, minimum of 0 and average of 1150 or less depending on how much I want to fit on a disc.

    Scenalyzer Live

there really isn't much to set in that, just be sure to pick a max file size if your hard drive isn't formatted in NTFS.

There's also a freeware program called DVIO that works well, no settings at all in that one other than choosing type 1 or 2 DV.

    1. capture with Scenalyzer Live
    2. encode with TMPGEnc to MPEG1 for VCD or MPEG2 for SVCD or DVD
    Code:
    a. use the templates in the project wizard to start but change the motion search precision to high or highest, for even better quality use 2pass VBR (high maximum, low minimum and whatever average will allow you to get your footage on the disc(s) you want). note that VBR on VCDs or bitrate higher than 2520 on SVCDs makes for less compatible discs.
    3. author your VCD or SVCD with VCDEasy
