Copy my friends dvds - how?

Im pretty much a noob when it comes to making copys of my dvd movies. I used dvd2dvdr to copy some regular movies and it worked great.

But now i want to copy all my friends dvds, and cant get it to work at all. The dvds are about 3 gb big, so i dont need to make it smaller. But i have no clue how i can get everything (all subs, audio and movies, extras and the menu) copied.

Is there any program that allows me to make a direct copy on the fly. Or can someone give me a short step by step how i can rip the hole dvd and author it with some program.

And it would be great if someone could tell me how i could make a own menu so i could skip the original one and make a new dvd with maybe 6-8 parts of friends and use the new menu for it =)
