If my main purpose is to create svcds is there any point to capturing at 704x480? In a 50 minute capture at 29.97fps I lost about 150 frames, I'd like to reduce this but don't really want to sacrifice quality. My source is VHS, anybody have any pointers? Thanks in advance!

reducing the vert rez (480) will result in the biggest loss in quality, so i'd leave that alone. but, if you are capturing from VHS, 640x480 rez captures is more than adequate. in fact, 704x480 on VHS captures may be overkill...

Thanks for clearing that up for me, I tried capturing at 720x480 as I've seen recommended but it made a big green bar down the right side of the picture, almost as if the source couldn't fill that size so it just stuck garbage in there. Thanks again.
