  1. DC10+ capturing:
    A real buggy thing is that it doesn't matter if i capture from VHS (composite) or from Hi-8(S-Video), there are always diagonal lines showing. They are not interlaced-lines, but much wider. Somebody told me it's a moiré effect.

    An picture-example of this can be found at: http://www.consultit.nl/diagonal.jpg
    In the top-right of the picture it's clear which lines i mean.

    I have tried numerous settings, but nothing works. Even capturing at 352x288 PAL comes with the same result.

    System: AMD 1000, 256Mb, 60Gb cap-disk, RivaTNT2 Ultra
    Capture-card: DC10+
    VHS --> composite
    Hi-8 --> S-Video

    Anyone knows a solution ar has the same trouble?

  2. ...you're not alone, in having this type of problem. But you 'ARE' alone, in not getting any help.

    I posted the very same problem here months ago, never saw a reply/answer. posted the same problem in Pinnacle's webboard, never got any 'logical' answer (except for their typical "check if you have any other application running other than explorer, systray, and whatever those 2 programs are, and that dc10 does not share interrupt with anything other than steering crap&quot.

    I don't think we're the only 2 guys seeing this. but i guess the problem is just being neglected. I changed my capture setup to firewire...but am still interested in fixing that diag line problem.

    First off, is the picture you posted the MJPEG version ot the MPEG version?

    What are you using to capture your video - are you using the miro MJPEG codec?

    The size you mentioned - 352 x 288 is not a format that the DC10 will use its hardware capture codec. Try sticking to the defined capture sizes for your card.

  4. ...been doing captures with DC10+ using the miro MJPEG codec. Also used 'their' defined capture sizes.

    I guess what EP10 did was just grabbed a frame off the AVI that he captured.

    Yes jtor you are right.

    For me there is no difference if i use VirtualDub or "Studio DC10plus". All the same result

    As for Tommo's remark about 352x288: you are correct. It should be 384x288. Eventhough i capture at that format, no changes. Codec is miro MJPEG.
    The jpeg is just a frame-grabb as stated bij jtor. Just an indication of what the effect is like in every frame.

    Tommy, which codec would you say suits better?
    With VirtualDub i have not found another possibility then the miro MJPEG.
    In VirtualDub i cannot use "Set costum format..." because everyone gives an Error 418 --> not supported.

    I also got the advice to turn of the monitor and changing sockets to another outlet. No help either.

    I'm really interested in how others work-around these kinds of things.

    I am having a hard time of it at the moment trying to set up a freinds computer, which has some problems, and he has a DC10 Plus. Got the problems sorted out - goodness that was fun. Isn't going to be impressed to find that his Hercules 3D Prophet II MX has been replaced with a 8MB AT Rage Pro.

    Anyway - the DC10 Plus - so far I am totally unimpressed. (I use the DC30Plus which is excellent). Using the VIDCAP tool, it is utterly rubbish. Looks like a really bad SVCD.

    Using the Studio capture give a better performance but still not to my liking. It isn't like his computer is slo, it is Pentium II 400. I will get back when it is sussed.

    Good luck with that
    Videocard troubled me also, but now i don't share it's IRQ with another card and it worked.
    Capturing is perfect. CPU usage doesn't get beyond 10% but only the diagonal lines are still bugging me.

    What's your opinion abot capturing with VirtualDub?
    Or is there a better one...
