I have a DVD that is currently an AVI file. It is in PAL DIVX format at 720x416 at 25 F/sec. I'm located in the US. I want to convert it to VCD. Question is, with that ratio, should I convert to NTSC or PAL? Here is my thoughts. You have the AVI file at 720x416. Half of that would be 360x208. A NTSC VCD file would be 352x240 and a PAL VCD would be 352x288. By those measurements, I would gather that there would be less of a stretching effect with the NTSC over the PAL format. Would this be accurate? Also, can you make a VCD that conforms to the ratio of the original encoded file, which is then out of spec for the VCD format, and if so, what would be a ratio I would utilize for this particular AVI file? Thanks.
