How long did you wait for Sony DRU 500A from Dell.com?

I am just wondering what is experience with Dell.com and waiting time for Sony DRU500A. After 3 weeks my is still not made

Delivered :11/12/2002

I am happy now.

EDIT--- Well, I guess with Dell you win some you lose some. Ordered a 100gig hard drive SE on 10/14/2002 and misteriously got cancelled today , called and I got bounced from every g'damn dept. Finally someone told me the drive is not longer available and the person cannot help me or giving me the discounts for a bigger hard drive with the same specs. I don't think I ever order again from them, it seems one dept don't know what the other is doing.
Do you think they know the concept of networking?

The above is what just drives me crazy! No disrepect intended for Craz but this seriously sucks. An order at the same price submitted 1 week later ships before mine. Supposedly we went through the exact same procedure so what the heck kind of queuing algorithm are they using???

I can accept delayed shipments but they damn well better go out in a FIFO basis. They obviously are not. This just pisses people off and because of that, they suck!

Ordered 10/7: $268 incl shipping
Called 10/12: order was cancelled and replaced because Dell said Sony changed the SKU. Was told by Dell that the original order would have sat in the system unfulfilled because of the SKU change. Estimated ship date 10/21.
Called 10/24 to ask where my order stood. Dell promised a call back with an answer. Never did.
Called 10/28 to ask again. After a 1 hour runaround Dell finally gave me a ship date of 11/11
Unit shipped later that day, arrived yesterday, 10/30 by 2 day air.

Still no email from Dell stating my order has shipped! They seem to have no clue about how these things are moving.

Hi i ordered the drive on 10.1.02 and have gotten like 3 emails pushing back the date. today i got one pushing it back from 11.29.02 to 12.13.02!
I guess i'll give them one more chance. Anyone else in similar situation?

yeah uh...i placed my order for the dru500a on october 3rd...a week later they called and said it had been delayed until the 21st of october....on the 20th of october they called me and informed me it would not ship until the 30th of november....!!! so i cancelled my order and was lucky enough to find a single dru500a on the shelves of 1/4 best buys in my area...cost me 350$ instead of the 270$ at dell....but i would still be waiting for mine from dell probably...

ps- dell still has not refunded my 270$ even after several phone calls....it has been about 6 weeks since i cancelled the order, lol- time to get back on the phone

I am still waiting! I ordered on Oct. 4. And got another delay email. This says the 26th of December. I already bought another one though so i will just sell the one from dell on ebay.

I heard that Dell.com is not going to have sony drive until mid of jan. And also I heard that they got their sony drives from the same company I am getting them from. Still, I haven't got mine yet so i dont' think they can get theirs any sooner................

Lateset e-mail from Dell:

"Unfortunately, we are experiencing unexpected delays. Due to these delays, we have been forced to move the estimated ship date on your order back to Thursday, December 26, 2002."

I got the same email .I doubt they will have it the day after x-mas.
