  1. I know I am doing something wrong and it should have a very easy solution. I have my Sony TRV17 hooked up to the computer via firewire. I can bring the video from the camcorder fine.

I tried to hook up the camcorder to the vcr and I want to use the camcorder as a passthrough to the computer and I can not seem to get it to go. Any help would be appreciated. I can not seem to find any directions on how to do this. I would assume i do not have something set up properly. Thank you thank you thank you

  2. Some camcorders allow passthrough, some do not. Your manual or features should tell you if it does.

I have a Sony TRV900 and it doesn't but some Sony models do work.

if you camcorder supports it, and you know this for sure, then
in order to turn this feature on, most cams are setup to turn pass-through
on, in the cams' menu (usually a "menu" button on the cam)

I could be wrong but this is what I've read all over here, on this FORUM.
