  1. Hi,

    I have a Sony Digicam DCR-PC120E.
What I want is to be able to produce the finest results possible with it.

Most of the stuff I will be producing is to go on CD's to be played on stand alone DVD players

    The software I have is:

    a) Adobe Premiere 6
    b) Ulead media studio directors cut
    c) TMPGE
    d) NERO 5

Please advise me of the best methods for getting great results from a CD.

    Many thanks

  2. It is not possible to answer such a vague question in this kind of forum. This site is full of great guides and info. I suggest you look to the left of this page and start reading. Start with Newbie, then convert, then authoring.

When you have a sepcific problem please comae back and ask for help.

  3. You essentially have all that you need:

1- you need to capture with premiere or ulead (or Windows Movie Maker)
2- Edit your DV file with Premiere or Ulead
3- Encode from DV avi to mpeg with TMPGEnc
4- Author (i.e. create menus, etc) and burn VCD with Nero

For VCDs, you will need to encode to mpeg-1.

For SVCD, you will need to encode to mpeg-2. You will get better results with SVCD. However, not all DVD players play SVCD (or VCD for that matter).

  5. If you want an all-in one solution, you may wish to look at Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2.0 (the second version came out this month). It creates DVD, SVCD and VCDs.

    They just released Version 2.

I had certain problems with Version 1 because:

    a) it would not capture from a Sony Digital camcorder (I used Windows Movie Maker to capture instead).

    b) the mpeg encoder would sometimes create out of sync files. So I used TMPGEnc instead and imported the mpeg file into Ulead DVD Movie Factory.

I hope that they have fixed those problems in version 2.0. You can use DVD Movie Factory to author and burn a VCD and SVCD.

Anyways they will have a trial version for the new version but it is not yet available,
