Hi there;
I've a Samsung DVD S-124(similar with 224/324/424) the player is Ok except the subtitle support in SVCDs. While playing SVCDs u've 4 sub & 2 audio options but only the audio options seem working.![]()
Tried the CVD/SVCD sub demos in the www.vcdhelp.com but couldn't succeed to see them.![]()
None of the formats CVD/SVCD subs worked. But ther's another problem that the player didn't recognize & play the demos easily. In every demo it stated that it can't play the cd. But after several tries it began randomly playing the recorded tracks. But "No" subs...
Although I've 4 sub options on the DVD player & minimum 2 options on the SVCD, none of them worked.![]()
It seems that there's something wrong with the CDs or the data or the program(Fireburner 2.1.7 windows edition/hacked).
The question is; Burning method or no support on Samsung ?
I can burn only the cue/bin files in TAO(Track At Once) mode. SAO (session at once) & DAO(Disc at once) stucks.
It's valid with the Cue/Bin files created with DVD2SVCD too.
What is the best way to burn the Cue/Bin files ?
I don't think that Samsung will manufacture a DVD player that doesn't support the SVCDs although it claims so...
Help please !

Most SVCD compatible dvd players do not support soft encoded subtitles. It is an option in the standard, not a requirement. Whether or not subtitle support is added to the player is completely at the discretion of the manufacturer.
There are two subtitle formats, CVD and SVCD. There are ntsc samples for each subtitle format. If both of the samples play but you don't get subtitles than this is just a limitation of your dvd player becase the samples are completely compliant, as far as I know. -
I agree completely about soft subs. I use DVD2SVCD and neither my Apex1500 or Sampo611 can play the subs. The only option I have found is to burn the subs into the movie and always have them on...guess you would call these hard subs.
