  1. ok so here is my problem. I currently have several 200 meg files that are in mpeg-1 format. I am trying to burn them to dvd+r but when the mydvd progam converts them to proper dvd format(mpeg-2) it blows them up to about 1.4 gigs each. I was given advice that i should go back to the original source files and just encode them straight to mpeg-2 format. The prob is that i don't have the originals, just the vcd's. Would it be possible to shrink these 200 meg files back down to avi to 60 megs or so and then re-encode them back to mpeg-2. or would the quality suffer to badly. Please help me with a solution i originally thought that i could but about 18 200 meg files on a dvd+r. somebody please help

    thanks

every conversion will lose a lot of quality .. going to avi from mpeg1 and then back to mpeg2 more so ..

    18 x 200 = 3.6 gig .. make the dvd as mpeg1 files .. dont convert to mpeg2 ..
