Since I have small amount of HD-20 gb, I would like to buy a larger external HD so do you know how much I need to get such as 60, 80, 100, or 120? I plan to capture AVI file using Virtualdub and encode using TmpGenc. I have P3 600 w/ 394 mb ram and DVD-RW drive (105).
Your input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

First off, try to get the largest capacity hard drive you can afford. That being said capturing in VirtualDub using the HuffyUV codec at 352 x 480 resolution takes up 20-25gig of hard drive space, on my system. On top of that consider you may want to cut, and/or apply filters and save to a different filename before you encode in TMPGEnc, therefore I would suggest a minimum hard drive size of 80gig.
