  1. Is it possible to put DVD-files (created by me) on a normal cd-r or cd/rw?
And then play it in a standalone DVD-player?
    If not why?

  2. it is possible to put dvd-files on cd-r/w but only can fit about 25 minutes in dvd resolution on 80 minute 700mb cd-r/w. You can fit up to 78 minutes in vcd resolution 352 x 288 created into a vob file. But the only software that i know that can do this is Roxio Video Pack 5
www.roxio.com which i use at present, which is making a Mini-DVD

Other softwares only write to dvd media not cd-r\w.

But here comes the trial and error it does play on my philips dvd player. It depends on your dvd player. I havent had any other stand-alone dvd players so i cant tell you if it will play on other ones.

They werent designed to play dvd files on cd-r\w which in a affect
the creation of Vcd disks which can

The disadvantage of this mini-dvd for me this doesnt matter is that even though it writes the controlls
the dvd player doesnt interprete them so you cant fastforward or rewind and it doesnt have the position time. but it does play automatic and pause, stop, goto next chapter and previous chapter.

i hope i have answered your question?

tweety765a pretty much answered your question, and there is some further information on creating MiniDVD aka cDVD on this site (I think they talk about using Nero to do it). I'll just add that DVD player compatibility is generally very poor, most players either can't play them at all or they need a firmware hack to play them.
