    Hi,

I bought a 636 multi region machine about a year ago, assuming it would play VCD's with ease. It plays them but only in two second gaps of silence and darkness!! Is this something wrong with my player or can I modify it so it will play them properly? I don't know anything about the guts of a dvd player and how to tweak the performance etc so am at a complete loss to why I cant play VCD's properly.

Any help would gratefully be appreciated.

  2. I also have a pioneer 636, mine plays VCD's no problem. Are you sure they are standard VCD's and not high bitrate XVCD's or SVCD's, as the 636 will not play SVCD's or XVCD with a bitrate above 2500

I wouldn't know how to tell the difference between VCD's and SVCD's etc. I am a complete novice at this, I don't have a clue where to start.
    Any help would be great.
