I am getting really frustrated and it seems that all information here is about everything but the real nuts and bolts of what I want.... there now my frustration has been exorcised from my conscience. Can someone give me some advice on this... yes I know it is in this forum but I need a friggin flowchart apparently for one celled brains like mine. This is what I want to do:

    1. Rip DVD to hard drive
    2. "Back Up" DVD to DVD media (Sony DRU500)
    3. Thats it....

Other than all the tech babble I read everywhere, All I want is to "back up" my store bought movies onto one disc w/ JUST the movie and w/ Just the English Audio at the highest quality possibble. I know I am going to get the SH!T flamed out of me for not searching the forum... but I have till I am friggin blue in the face. I know this is somewhat simple and should not take an MIT graduate to do this. I can get the movies ripped but am having trouble after that... please be nice I am just trying to get the best use out of my toys. I follow directions well once I find them AND understand them. I am now babbling... please help me with some common sense, please...............

I guess I should mention this...

    1. I have been using Smart Ripper v2.41
    2. I then put it through DVD2AVI
    3. Then TMPGenc 2.59.47.155-Free
    4. But then no audio when I preview...

Sorry for the rant above, just frustrated.... Any advice will surely be appreciated.

  3. Depending on your goal, there appear to be many, many options. Your message is a bit confusing. By your second message, and the list of software you have, I'm guessing you are trying to take your DVD down to another format. If that is the case, use the DVD2SVCD set of software. It's outstanding and there is a great 'how-to' on this site.

If that's not your intention, you may need to explain exactly what you are trying to accomplish, including formats, etc. and post another message.

    Good Luck.

  4. Are you ripping the audio files, and what format are they in. When you
frameserve in dvd2avi, is it decoding the audio as well, and what format
    is this in.

  5. Assuming you're trying to burn to DVD (not SVCD), this is a fairly simple task which you are trying to make harder than it is. Here are the basic steps.

    1. Rip files from DVD to harddrive (main movie VOB's and IFO files).
    2. Strip out unwanted stuff using IFOEDIT.
    3. Do a "Get VTS Sectors" on the VIDEO_TS.IFO file using IFOEDIT.
    4. Put files in a folder called "VIDEO_TS".
    5. Burn "VIDEO_TS" folder to a DVD.

Here's a more detailed and illustrated version of these steps...

Look at the 4th post down by EnemyWithin.

One thing to note is that if all of the files in the VIDEO_TS folder are not small enough to fit on one disc (and that is your goal), then you will need to re-encode the files using ReMPEG.
