    I Just want to simply convert an avi to mpg , but TMPGEnc won't open my avi file, it gives me a error message saying its can't open or its unsupported. And I tried all my avi files. Whats up with that? help me out.

    Im using the latest TMPGEnc

    If you take a look in the newbie guides there is a FAQ for common tmpgenc problems and there solutions, including yours. You can find this under the surprising heading of "NEWBIE" in the how to section on your left.
