Normally I have no problems with nero (5.5.9.6) when burning vcd's. I should say first that since my dvd player doesn't support svcd, I usually burn mpeg2's as vcd's and turn standard compliance off and they play fine.
Lately I've been trying my hand at creating menus. Whenever I try to create a menu with a thumbnail (clicking properties on the file and using the slider to take me to the thumbnail I want to use) , nero hangs for a bit then just shuts down. Sometimes it doesn't shut down until I hit the burn button, but it always shuts down when thumbnails are involved. I have lots of room on my hd - over 30gb's free at any given time, and 512 mb ram. I'm able to create menus with just text, but thumbnails just don't seem to want to happen for me. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it doesn't help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - even if it means using different software.
