  1. I can't find any info on this dvd player, just got it at walmart for 50bucks. I searched on this sites DVD list and searched on google with out any info coming up.

It is like the 1100w, that it doesn't say on it if it plays vcd's or not.

It's a christmas present for someone so i can't open it and try to play one.

  3. The 1010W did NOT play any VCDs I stuck in it. A couple of people (literally two) have said that their VCDs played fine, but it all depends, I think, on when the unit was purchased.

Apparently, models made before this past Spring will support VCD, but the latest ones will not. Use the link from the previous post for the details on which model you bought.

I took mine back to Wal-Mart today, specifically because it would not play any VCDs. It did play SVCD/MP3/PictureCD/DVD/MPEG 1-2 ISO, but it did not even recognize the VCDs.

I exchanged it for a Norcent DP-300, which was only $58, and it plays everything: VCD/SVCD/MP3/DVD/PictureCD/MPEG 1-2 ISO. Figured I could cough up another 10 bucks for all of the functionality I needed.

My recommendation: return the Apex in favor of the Norcent, if they have any. good luck!

  4. I was able to get a DVD-R, VCD, DVD+RW to all play in this player. I could not get it to play a DVD+R. The error I get when trying to play the DVD+R is a no disc error. I tried reloading it three times and pressing play anyway, but it just won't go. Any ideas why it will play a DVD+RW, but not a DVD+R? The +R and +RW were both burned using the same software (ULead) and DVD Burner. In the past my experience is that it's harder for players to play anything that's on a rewritable medium.

I'm really wanting this player to play +Rs. It'd be nice also if we could find a region free hack for it too.

I just bought Apex AD-1010w from Walmart on 11-29. The walmart person said they were now going to carry this dvd player instead of the 1110w. So I am guessing it's a replacement model?

    Thanks!
