  1. Can someone tell me is there anything other then Nero that supports burning DVD video format? (That supports the DRU500A)

The last version of Prassi doesnt recognize the Sony.

Like nero that I can drag my VIDEO_TS contents into and it supports the
Sony DRU500A or is Nero the best bet right now?

    Thanks

Thanks but the DX version of Recordnow max doesnt support the DRU500A, and the version that comes with the drive is the lite edition I think. There is no option for doing DVD video.

Anyone know any other app that will work with the DRU500a for doing DVD video burning?

  5. Sonic MyDVD works but you have to use their silly menus.I tried ArcSoft
Showbiz to burn but I keep getting"drive is busy" error.

RecordNow Max 4.5 supports the drive and works great for DVD Video and all my other DVD burning needs too.

RecordNow DX is another version of RecordNow, and is not to be confused with RecordNow Max.

    Thanks for the clarification!

I now see what your talking about, I will have to give that a try also.

    I see 4.5 refered to as Stomp's?

    Thanks again.

    VOB Instant CD/DVD version 6.5

Gear Pro Professional Edition version 6.02

Both of the above have worked very well for me writing to my Sony DRU-500a. VOB Instant is simpler and a little quicker, but it doesn't seem to actually do any checking of the files in your VIDEO_TS folder. Gear Pro takes a little longer, but it does check your files. Several times Gear has warned me that I was about to waste my time burning a DVD that would never play. (Errors like forgetting to do a final "GET VTS SECTORS" in Ifoedit.)

Thanks, I have been using Gear and Nero. Gear when it's media that I know only will burn at 1x (for some reason it only gives me 1x as an option with any DVD-r when using nero I can burn certain media like the riteks at 2x)

I will have to try the other application also. (I try to verify my DVD with power dvd first before burning anything.) I have actually had Nero complain and I have already verified with power dvd, and even after the burn after nero complains it plays fine in my home DVD player.

    Thanks everyone

  13. to henry nettles:

How did you manage to get the Instant cd/DVD working. Did you install any specific drivers? My version 6.5 recognises the drive, but does not find any disk in it even if there is a blank DVD in it. I have the latest firmware 1.0f.

    Thank you for the response

  14. You can download the Record Now DX for free on the same download website for DLA. It is the more powerful version of the Record Now that came with DRU-500A

  15. How about Ulead DVD Workshop or Ulead DVD Movie Factory?
