  1. I am trying to convert a DiVX encoded file to SVCD. I am using the "Foolproof" protocol as presented elsewhere on this site http://www.vcdhelp.com/avitovcdfoolproofusingcce/. I am unable to to preserve the aspect ratio.
The source file is a DiVX 5.02 encode with a res. of 712x392, 23.976 fps, AC3. Before starting the frame server, I have configured the resize filter to 480x264 and in the "expand frame and letterbox" I have 480 x 480. The preview shows that the letterboxes are in place.
In CCE 2.64, I have tried aspect ratios set to 16:9, 1:1, and 4:3. However, when I play it in WinDVD, there is no letterboxing and the picture has stretched to fill the screen. Can anyone enlighten me as to what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks!

This may be "foolproof" but it seems overly complicated. It seems much easier to me to load the avi into FitCD, which will almost instantly produce an Avisynth script to crop and resize to SVCD specification. This can then be loaded into CCE with Aspect ratio SAR 1:1.
