  1. Just learned from neowin that NERO 5.5.10.0 is released, since i'm a little reluctant to change my working 5.5.9.17.0 I was wondering if there are any results with the Sony DRU-500A and DVD+R yet?

    Here's the link:

  7. There is a little problem with the newest version of Nero. At least for the people like myself who used the 'DVD VIDEO' option in Nero. I was disappointed the most recent version, prior to 5.5.10 had a problem closing the session on certain DVD + 2.4x disks, like the Verbatim ones I had. When I upgraded to the newest version of 5.5.10, I was happy to report on another post that the closing issue had now been resolved, however, when I went to play the DVD+R, I got a "disk error" in my standalone. The disk played fine in my DVD-ROM. My standalone plays every format imaginable, and I never received any "errors" of any kind, so I was shocked. I realized by experimenting with my RW, that it was due to the fact that I selected "DVD-VIDEO" in the Nero Options, and not "DVD-ROM." I remembered seeing a post with someone who wrote that using that UDF 1.02 would work with all standalones, so I figured it would be better to just burn in that mode anyway. When I did burn in that mode, it played flawlessly on my standalone. The only thing that I think is odd is that all previous versions of Nero allowed me to choose DVD-VIDEO, but when I chose that on the most current version, It wouldn't play in my standalone. So basically, BEWARE all who use the DVD-VIDEO option in the latest version of Nero, you will almost certainly get an error when trying to play in your standalone. Other then that, the most current version of 5.5.10 SEEMS to have resolved any other bugs any of the prior versions had. Still an Excellent and most versatile burning software out there.

  8. Sounds like they've changed the DVD templates around a little. The DVD-VIDEO one sounds like it could have moved from iso to UDF 1.02 maybe?

    Thanks for the info Defense.

  10. is this DVD-VIDEO burning issue related just to +R media or is it general issue in 5.5.10.0 ?

  11. Ok can someone please help.

I USED to have nero 5.5.9.0 or something..
got dru500a .. that version didn't recognize it..
did firmware update on burner. to F
    updated nero to 5.5.10

Burned many UDF/ISO AND DVD VIDEO
using xbox mode whenever I could AND did it without..
ALL PLAYED fine on phillips....sony.. JVC standalones...

    BUT NOT ON apex.
it would recognize as dvd but not play.. no error.

I thought maybe no dvd-r capability.. HOWEVER..
when I got a already made NERO IMAGE of a dvd..I double clicked it and burned it just using whatever options came up from image...
it PLAYED PERFECT in APEX..great it understands the media.

OK now.. what is going on??
has ANYONE got NERO AND DRU500A to burn in udf/iso or dvd video or DVD ROM (udf) and PLAY ON a apex say .. 1200 ??

If so..what version of nero.. what options exactly.

if not what other program works? recordmax ?
lets say all with DVD-r's !! not +R's or +RW's .. too many problems with that.

ANY info will help.. just want to burn for my parents APEX.
