  1. EDIT: Please see my next post below I got closer but now my PVR/TV software can not load the drivers that made virtualVCR work

I put virtualVCR on the PC and intalled the filters. I tried both the WDM drivers supplied with the card and also the modified WDM driver from the link on the virtualVCR website. Chip is the BT878.

When I ask the program to preview all I get is the correct sound but the picture is only two horizontal bars of color no real picture.

Only setting I can find that is possibly wrong but is it has 61 for the country code. I have no idea what this does or if it is correct for USA.

Has anyone been able to get virtualVCR to work in win2k with the averTV stereo or similar TV card?

BTW: VirtualDub works just fine except I am limited to 352x240 and I would like 720x480.

Is there another program I could use to get the 720x480 capture with the WDM drivers in win2k
    Thanks

  3. Getting Closer need more help.

I installed the WDM drivers referenced on the site for VirtualVCR. In set-up I entered 1 for the country code and now the tuner and preview works in VirtualVCR. Also of note the tuner still works with Virtualdub also.

The problem is that now the TV software that came with the averTV stereo card can not load the NEW driver so my TV/PVR application no longer works.

Are there any other TV/PVR applications I could try that are freeware.

Maybe there is a different WDM driver set that may work better

    Any help appreciated...Thanks

Have you tried either of these drivers? Both are hacked versions of the bt848/878/879:

    'tweaked' bt driver:
    http://www.iulabs.com/eng/drv/index.shtml

    http://btwincap.sourceforge.net

Many people have said that these drivers have better resolution as compared to the drivers included with their cards. They work with any AverTV. I don't have one of these cards so I don't know if you need the VfW-->WDM wrapper to make these drivers work with VDUB.

  5. I also have an AverMedia AverTV card and use VirtualVCR to capture video and audio. Try this: Uninstall the current wdm driver you installed and re-install the wdm dirvers that originally came with the AverTV card.
Then install VirtualVCR, and set the country code to 1. VirtualVCR is still kinda buggy, so you might have to mess around with the VirtualVCR settings to get it to work. Also enable "use smart tee filter for preview".
Then enable preview in the capture menu, deselect preview, then enable preview again. I use the WDM drivers that came with the AverTV card, VirtualVCR, and WinDVR. I can capture without loss of video/audio sync at all resolutions. Again VirtualVCR is buggy, you'll have to mess around with the settings for a while to get it to work.
