  1. I took two separate streams and input them into ffmpegX. Clicked encode video and audio. Set the video to encode hi-bitrate dvd. Set the audio to encode ac3 @ 48khz 192kbps. Then I set it up in post processing to keep elementary streams and author as DVD. I can get it to encode video but this is as far as it goes for me. Here is what the terminal says...

Im utterly confused as to how to get this program to work correctly. After I tried to get it to do this I tried to encode the ac3 stream to a smaller ac3 stream so I could fit it on the final DVD. I got this error...

Please help me figure out this program!

    Thank You,
    Mullet

  2. You can't reencode to mpeg-2 with two separate input files. Also you can't recompress AC3 5+1. The correct method is to take the video only, compress it as needed, then remux it with the original AC3.

  3. ok... so i didn't have two video streams inputted... i had a video stream which was under the Open area and ac3 audio under the Add Audio section... can this program transcode a larger ac3 file to smaller file? or will it not do it b/c the original file was 5.1? I tried to rip only the 2 channel file with OSEx but it wouldn't allow me to do so. So theoretically I should be able to use a bitrate of 4500 kbit/s have it encoded as MPEG2... have Encode Video checked. Under the audio tab... don't have anything chosen.. nothing under Add audio b/c supposedly I can't re-encode 5.1 ac3. Also unclick the Encod audio. Then under options have just Altivec checked along with QT decode. What does mplayer decode do? Also what are other things to have checked? Bicubic Scaling, no svcd scan. If its 4:3 i guess i don't need VOB letterbox checked... why would i need GOP headers checked? I have a dual CPU... i guess i should swith the thread to that. The profile should be DVD. what is VBV size? what is the correct amount? Also what the QMin thing mean? should i have a lower number or higher number? Next is tools... I want a dvd so i gues I'd want Author as DVD and I want my elementary streams so i guess that should be checked... What is echo command line? do i click anything in Video tools? mux as mpeg-2 or dvd? or either or? what about having postprocess also clicked?

I know this is a lot but i really want to learn how to use this program effectively... the manual that is provided in this forum is incomplete at best... i understand that i can use the original ac3... but im still unclear why certain things don't work... i have so many more questions about this process...

    Thnx,
    Mullet
