  1. I ripped a dvd that was over 6 gig, and used ifoedit to strip the extras
    subs, other audios etc.

The resulting files were 4.75 gig (the credits remained, but were not
a single vob, but part of the last vob)

So I used vobsplitter to cut off the credits, and created a new vob.

This brings me down to 4.57 GB

What are my options now (I dont want to reencode the entire movie)
Can I just reencode the last vob? or last 2 vobs?

Or is there a simpler solution?

If I CAN reencode a vob using tmpgenc, how do I keep it as a vob file?

    Thanks

  2. Can anyone help me with this?

There is literally nothing left to rip our, but 4,57 GB is under 4.7GB, so
    will it fit ok?

If not, how can I reencode a vob or two, and return the files back
    to VOB format?

  4. So how do I make it fit on one disc using TMPEnc and dvd2avi?

If i save a project and get a audio and .d2v file I can reencode these in
tmpgenc by choosing the dvd option in the wizard?

But I will get an MPEG file? (mpeg2?)

What do I do with this file? How do I create the vobs? Do I use IFOEDIT and choose the option "Author a new dvd"?

You must understand, I am very new to backing up my dvds. And there are
ALOT of guides, which make it very hard to take in and process all of the information that is out there. It is very overwhelming.

I hope someone can help me with this.

This is a guide for reducing when its too large for one disc.

    it uses DVD2AVI and TMPGENC.

    pretty straightforward and easy

  7. well if u only wanna transcode one vob....use rempeg and transcode the first vob u can do it that way. i personally use CCE to transcode the full vob set but if i were to only transcode one vob i would use rempeg since it easy to remux after trancoding

  8. Ok I'm still having trouble with this. Here is what I tried.

1/ Ripped the main movie to my HD
2/ Used IFOEdit to strip out subs, other audio etc, leaving just ac3 and picture
3/ Ifoedit created VIDEO_TS.IDO etc, and I "Got vts sectors"
4/ Normally you could burn at this point but my files wer 4.57 gb (how annoying )

5/ So in dvd2avi, I selected the last 2 vobs, and saved the project
6/ I encoded the .d2v and audio in TMPGenc to create an MPEG2 file (at a slightly smaller bitrate)

7/ Then, I did a simple demultiplex in TMPGenc, to create an .mpa and .m2v file

8/ In IFOedit, I went to "DVD AUTHOR -> AUTHOR A NEW DVD"

9/ I added the .mpa and .m2v file, and created 2 new vobs and ifos etc

10/ I dragged the 2 new vobs into my original folder (I renamed them appropriatly - VTS_01_5.VOB and VTS_01_6.VOB)

11/ I then opened up the ifo file in IFOEdit, and opened the VTS_01_0.IFO file.
12/ I did the "VOB EXTRAS" part, to create new ifo files and vobs

13/ I tried to preview in ifoedit (I clicked the dvdplay button)
    14/ It did not work.

So I'm not sure what to do now.

I have deleted all the files, and ripped my dvd again. It is on my harddrive, untouched. I have not stripped it yet, it is just the main movie vobs etc.

What do I do now? I hope someone can help me (I dont want to put it on 2 dvds, I want to fit it on one.)

    Thanks
