  1. Hey Guys:

    First of all Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

Someone told me just to download DIVX files and play them on my DVD player. First of all how can you tell if your dvd player will play this format. Mine is an APEX-2100. I looked in the dvd player section of this site and it didn't really give any information about divx one way or the other on most any player. Can anyone shed some light on this one?

I am also wondering if, how, and what I can use to possibly splice together and convert avi files that I have over to DIVX format. Converting avi's to vcd and svcd seems to be the biggest pain in the patooti that I have ever seen. I am wondering if divx would be an easier way.

    Thanks,

    Comet

  2. DivX will not play on your DVD player, and it will not play on any other DVD player that is out there (apart from the KISS and possibly a couple of others, and this will only play DivX that have been encoded to certain specs, so this probrably wouldn't play it either). That is why there is very little mention of DivX on the DVD players compatability list (none of them play it, You may as well add coffee making ability to the list, but I don't think any of them will do that either). If you want to play it on your DVD player, there is no way round it, you have to convert to either VCD, SVCD or DVD.

By the way there is a DivX search option, comes up with just 4 players.
