  1. Hello all,

I have a Dazzle DVC 100. I've made several successful captures from OTA broadcasts with Moviestar 5. However, when I hook up the Dazzle to the DishPVR receiver, all I get in the capture screen is a garbled picture. Is this some form of macrovision or what?

This is how I have it hooked up:

    1. Coax cable out of the DishPVR receiver to a VCR sitting beside my
    computer

    2. Composite and stereo RCA jacks out of the VCR into the DVC 100.

    3. DVC 100 to computer via USB

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Hokizilla

  3. I am trying to solve a similar problem regarding poor picture quality when capturing from a dish (direct TV). Except I am going stright onto DVDR (Phillips DVDR985).

After a demux of the VOB files, the mpeg-2 streams exhibit certain video artifacts consistent with Macrovision.

Did anyone ever figure out if these dish feeds embed Macrovision?

I'm trying to isolate the problem to either the orgiginal broadcast or the DVDR.

  4. Never had any problems. Using the Sony Ultimate TV PVR and s-Video out. Might want to say if using Sony or RCA box and if it's Ultimate TV or TiVo based. I've not read where any of the units uses any protection scheme. In fact, the Replay unit has come under fire for providing an ethernet connection which allows direct digital copies. TiVo kind of sort of helps unofficial hacked units which allow the same thing.

...love to have a Replay 4500 series version of a direct TV receiver though..... Don't look pretty sure it doesn't exist.
