  1. I have a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-104.

I have tried numerous types of media.

I use nero to burn the dvd and the movie freezes towards the end. I have tried many times and have yet to get a movie to play all the way through on any stand alone player. They play fine on the hard drvie.

    Please help.

  2. It seems this is a common problem. I have a Panasonic DMRe30 and an Afreey DVD player and they both play discs fine but watching a film on my friends PS2 and it started freezing and eventually stopped.

Ive seen suggestioins of using software other than Nero but it may be your player just doesnt like DVD-Rs im afraid

  3. I have the same problem before I thought it was the type of media I was using (which really is most of the problem), then I use a different burning software other than nero and I was able to get better result...then I use different media using nero same result a lot of skipping and pausing..with the same media different software works again..

bottom line is try different combination of media and software to achieve the most compatible burn for you...

From what I have read so far there is no 100% compatibiity on stand alone player.. check out the media section, there is a lot of info there from people who bought and use them on different player...

    just my 2 cents

  4. Your solution,

Do not use Nero to burn DVD's your first problem.

    Use Prassi Primo 2.0 DVD.

    Use Verbatim Datalife plus Media.

Your copies will now play fine on Playstation 2 with no probs.

Older standalong DVD players are better suited for pressed DVD's only and there really is no solution to this problem at this time.

Look for DVD players that can play copy cd-r, vcd or even mp3's as your guide for compatabilty. I have since sold a Philips DVD player which suffered the very same freezing problem towards the end of the film and now have a Bush 2024 which works and plays DVD-R's with ease. As l said because it plays cd-r and vcd's, plus mp3's it really is no surprise.
l hope this helps in not wasting time and money as l did to reach this conclusion. 8)
