Hi,
It's been a while since I've done any encoding. I captured some video with VirtualDub and converted it to MPEG-1 (VCD) with TMPGEnc. It looks great in Media Player, but on my Sony DVD player, it gets very grainy in darker areas (bright areas look fine). Instead of having a smooth transition from light to dark, it almost looks dithered, with spots of black and color mixed together. The "dithering" moves around (since it's video), so it is very distracting. I don't have this problem with my old VCD's, so it's not just the DVD player.
Any ideas what's going on?
Thanks,
calamari
