  4. Hey there, I apologise for not being on the forum much lately, as Pinoy2201 mentioned i'm working on the new guide, and on top of that someone hacked my PC and trashed my Windows Registry, so I also in the process of re-doing all the programs

I'm hoping to complete the updated guide by the new year time, basicly alot of programs are gonna be updated, and per request of people, i'm gonna be more verbally describing each step so it would be easier to understand.

I've also started asking permissions from the program authors to allow me to use their programs, cause I feel kinda bad for including them without their permission.

  7. Now that someone brought this topic back up, I have a question for everyone
which do you prefer, the Classical Guide, or the Complete Guide ? which do
    you use more ?

Also, on the Classical Guide, do you want me to replace Smart Ripper and
DVD2AVI with CladDVD ? or should I keep the basic programs as they are ?

I'm thinking of a complete new design for the Complete Guide, If I manage
to do it, it will be ready for 2003, and it will jump a whole version to 3.0, if I
don't manage to do it, i'll simply just do program updates and it will be 2.1

Of course it all depends on feedback I get, cause doing the Complete Guide
takes ALOT of time, cause I keep ripping the same movie and encoding it so
    the pictures will be accurate.

I usually use the complete guide, but usually I'm only checking it for reference on some tool I don't normally use. I'm familiar enough with the programs in the classical guide that I rarely need a reference. The complete guide also gives me some idea of what alternatives I have if I'm not happy with a program I'm using.

  9. Thank you sterno for taking the time to reply, I appriciate that.
Atleast now I know someone uses the Complete Guide, so i'll make sure i'll
    update it.

Do you like the current interface it has ? do you have any advice or ideas for
a better interface ? I'm not a HTML designer or anything, but i'll defenetly try
to see what I can do with ideas i'll get.

Maybe it's just because I'm often half-drunk or half-asleep (or both) when I do it, but I keep clicking the links in the table of programs on the introduction page trying to go to the guide page on that tool. I always realize the mistake half a second after I click. My eyes just automatically go to the table and the brain says "that one".

The JavaScript drop-down menus are usable, but don't work quite right in Netscape/Mac or Mozilla/Linux. I assume they work right in IE/Windows, but I rarely use my Windows machine - I just set up captures or encodes and pretty much ignore it until they're done. I'm not a big fan of Java/JavaScript in general, but I seem to be in a shrinking minority on that one.

  11. Regarding the Pulldown Menus, I basicly only suggest using them when you
want to access a program that is in the guide in a direct manner.

If you notice the Complete Guide has a "Start Here" link at the bottom, which
is how I would prefer users approach the guide, of course what I want and
what is being done in reality are two different things
