  1. Well, I don't even know if I'm posting to the right forum because this problem seems very peculiar as I've never seen it mentioned before on this or any other forum.

Hercules Smart TV capture card and viewing a TV program in real time, the video lags the audio by a noticable amount. When capturing to MPEG2 this lag is reflected in the capture but playback is otherwise magnificent, even to DVD standard and the lag does not deteriorate with increases in resolution and bitrate.

Hercules Smart TV capture card (Bt878, Philips WDM TvTuner driver and LG metal case) and installed on P4 2.4GHZ/533 with Asus P4PE M/B, 256MB, WD 7200 ATA100 HD and Leadtek Winfast A170 DDR T video card. The software it came with is Power VCR 2 but I was not that impressed and installed WinDVR 2 which is great.

The fact the lag is reflected in the capture seems to me to eliminate the video card/driver but I am using the on-board(mobo) audio as my SB Live! simply won't output with this system. I have tried this with the Hercules onboard TV Tuner and also an attached VCR through the composite in port, both give the same lag.

Any one come across this before? Any ideas would be most appreciated, Thanks.

They call it an audio synch problem. I do not know what causes it, but there is a guide to fix it. Try this guide.
    Hello.

  3. Thanks Tommyknocker,
Thats a useful guide but my sync problem has nothing to do with files. Its out of sync while viewing TV real-time on my computer, either through the card tuner or a vcr attached to the card. The audio is ahead of the video.

    cheers

Real time viewing I know very little about. I was thought you wanted help with VCDs (check the name of this site) .
    Hello.

  5. I just bought the Pinnacle PCTV Pro card. I captured 30 minutes of video/audio with it and it was fine. If I have the viewer up for the TV, I can do a few things and notice the A/V getting out of sync too. I can close the program and reopen it and be fine until I decide to do something else.

    Athlon 1.6
    512MB memory
    Pinnacle PCTV Pro
    Gforce 2 Pro

Is there any way to get this to stay in sync? I noticed someone else in this thread with the same problem, so I was hoping there had been a resolution to this.
    Thanks,
    Greg

    gcobb,

You're probably using Pinnacle's software that comes with your card. I own the same card as yours and experienced the same A/V sync problem before. Mine comes with Studio7 software. Way out? Stop using their software and use another apps for capturing, TV viewing (never like their software anyway). What I've tried are UVS6, PowerDirector and they work just fine, no A/V sync probs. One good prog also is VirtualVCR, think you can download it from this site.
