Hi all
my problem is, i have done about 20+ vcd's and they all play Great on my computer, and Great on my DVD player. i have been using the same two programmes to do all the films which have all been AVI files converted first extracting the audio with Virtualdub and then converting to MPEG with TMPGEnc. i never alter any of the settings or use any of the filters i just convert them. Now my problem is i have just bought a Movie card for my sons Playstation so that he can play the vcd's instead of hogging the DVD player, now out of the 20+ vcd's that i have done only about 8 of them will play on his playstation the same quality as on the dvd player, the rest of them all play but the picture and sound is a continuous choppy motion about every 5 seconds where the picture freezes for about half a second along with the sound. all the films that dont play properly all do this exactly the same. Now i have opened up 4 of the films {2 good quality 2 choppy quality} in Virtualdub to see if i can find anything in the file information to see if there was anything noticable, like was one changed from ntsc to pal in conversion or if there were different sound formats or anything like that but i can't see anything that really stands out. i had a go of taking one of the films {mpeg} and cutting a small part in TMPEnc and converting it with interlace on to see if this solved my problem and it seemed to do the trick, but with interlace on it was nearly doubling my encoding time and as i know that i have never encoded a full film this way i am wondering why some will play and some wont, i would be very grateful if someone can give me any advice on what might be causing this problem and any idea on how i might be able to correct it.
thanks in advance.
