Hi,
My wife is looking for a good Xmas present for me and I thought of a home cinema speaker system. However, I don't know or understand enough to get the correct thing.
Seemingly there are 2 types you can get in the Argos catalogue. The cheap one at £79.99 says :
"Use with any DVD player with built in audio decoding or 5.1 chanell PC sound card".
The expensive one at £199.99 says :
"Built in decoder to convert sound from any DVD player into surround sound"
I would like to pick the cheaper one, but I am not sure if the spec on my player is OK. The system spec says :
"Dolby Digital Output, DTS digital output". It is a Pionerr DV-444
Can any-one tell me if I will be OK with the cheap version or do I need a system with a built in decoder?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Derek

You need the more expensive model if you want Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. The Pioneer DV-444 has digital outputs, but not a 5.1 decoder.
Hope this helps

Logitech make a "THX" certified 5.1 system ($200+) that most like can take your DV-444 output and blow your socks off.

Just one more question
Will any of the speaker systems on this page do what I need?

Thanks again,
