SONY OWNERS READ THIS There is NO REBATE for the DRU500A!!!

I just got off the phone with a customer service representative who told me that there is NO REBATE being offered for the dru500a! There is one for the 120 models, but not for the 500A.

I've read all the posts about this, I've printed off the rebate forms from the movie maker website (or whoever that was that kept a copy of it), I went to Circuit City and they updated my receipt to put in within the "valid" dates, and I've called the number that was listed four times. If you push 9 enough times you can get ahold of a customer service rep and ask a few questions.

He told me very emphatically that there is NO REBATE for the DRU500's!
Please tell me I'm wrong?

I'm really disappointed about this!

Okay here's the latest- I just got off the phone with Miguel, customer service rep from 1-866-450-9695. This is the phone number off the rebate form that has been floating around this forum.
The promotional code is 02-50561 (at the bottom of the rebate form next to the address for Miami).

According to Miguel (believe me, we had a long, exhausting conversation) this is an invalid promotional code and the rebate is not being offered. I suspected he was trying to cover something up, like there was something he wasn't allowed to tell me (perhaps they made a mistake and are trying to cover their tracks, acting like they never put the rebate on the internet?)

I also talked to several people at circuit city and they said they had heard nothing about the rebate. (when i got my receipt's date changed, the lady told me she hadn't seen the rebate form i was showing her- it was the one from the other posts in this forum. in fact, she only did it because i used to work there and knew her).

I know some people reported calling and having this rebate offer confirmed as being legit. Now it appears that it is not. Can those who called please post any info you might have to help the rest of us out?

And for crying out loud, please call the number on the rebate form and give 'em hell!

My web provider is down so the form I posted is down too (H/W problem).

I want to know as my wife is getting me a 500 for Christmas!

I got through! I used zero then pound key (#) and after hearing some canned message an operator came on.

She verified that the rebate is good!

Now I'll bet that 4 out of 5 people will get an uninformed person knowing the minimum wage people they hire but at least the lady I got said it was good. I told her I boght the DRU500A from Office Depot (one of the vendors on the coupon and the original site that posted the rebate form). A stretch considering I'm counting on the wife to buy it from one of those stores for my Christmas present. She looked it up and said it was a good rebate.

Don't take my word for it (see above bet) but call yourself and press the keys I did. Maybe you can get some sort of confirmation number...

i just called AGAIN and got two different answers- one no, and then a yes (actually she said it was pending, didn't know why, still kinda gave me the run around) but she said to go on ahead and send in all the documents but to keep copies of everything (duh).

well, what do you think?
i think i'll send mine in. I got three no's and a yes. but the last one was the yes. maybe they just gave in???
