  1. I am looking to build a new computer in about a months time as my current beast (read: piece of shit) just cant match my needs. So my question is what do you think is the best motherboard for an AMD XP2000+(or around that) in terms of both price and performance.

    Thanks.

By the way I know this question has been asked before but with the constant flow of new products into the market I wanted to see what your thoughts are currently.

I do not know that much about building computers either, so I went to an internet computer parts store and asked the virtually the same question you are asking.

They were very helpful, and if you want their email address (they are in the States), I would be more than happy to send it to you. They can build a system that is faster than my present system, for 33% less than I paid. But if you want a distributor closer to "down under" I suggest you ask one of them.
    Hello.

  3. I would sugget an epox, very fast and stable motherboards. If you are getting a new board try to get one which supports a 333MHz FSB, as the newest athlon chips will be using this in future. I have an epox ep-8k3a+ excellent board, which supports 333mhz FSB, So I will be able to stick an XP2800+ in it when they become available. For quite a while motherboards have supported 333mhz ddr ram, I have 1GB of it in mine, but its not ideal to run it asynchronously with 266mhz cpu, uprading to a 333mhz cpu should really see a boost in performance and also get the most out of the ram.

    This site makes good reading
