VOB + .sub (subtitles files) Best choice for SVCD?

I have a movie ripped from DVD (Meet the parents) and I also have the .sub files for Spanish subtitles

I thought that I can convert firts to Divx. The frameserve it from VirtualDub with subtitler (after converting to subrip format) to Tmpeg.

There is an easier way to do this?

I'm afraid of loosing quality when encoding to Divx

Checkout DVDx or DVD2SVCD they both support substitles and directly converting to SVCD from DVD Vobs.

I've already read them but the original Meet the parents DVD does not bring spanish subtitles. So I got the sub file for the movie. There is a way to put into an mpeg2 file or I have to convert to Divx first and the to SVCD?

I see. Then you can instead follow the dvd2avi guide that using virtualdub for subbing and you wont need to convert to divx.
