  1. Does anyone have a good way of calculating/estimating what bitrate to use when encoding using TMPGEnc given a certain sized vob file?

    i.e.

    VOB file starts out 5.8GB -> Encode using TMPGEnc Bitrate=4000 -> 4.1GB m2 -> Burns to DVD-R successfully (.ac3 file=.3GB)

    While trying to use the highest bitrate possible. I have it down to a process of estimating to within +/-500 kbits/s, but would really like to fine tune it to +/-100kbits/s. To optimize the final DVD-R quality.

    I've tried all the bitrate calculaters but found in the TOOLS section but find they are all geared toward SVCD's and don't seem to give me very accurate info. Is there a TMPGenc bitrate calculator that works the way I describe maybe? Anyone have a tabulated spreadsheet?

    Any advice or suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

  3. Use the java bitrate calculator in the tools section. It supports DVD and I find it to be accurate enough. Remember to allow space for menus and stuff if you use em.

  4. The version I have of TMPG allows you to play around with the bitrate and graphically shows the amount of DVD-R space used.
