Hello. I really have no idea where to look for an answer to this scenario so I have come for help.
I recently downloaded the Further Network P2P and was downloading stuff. Most of the time you can go into the folders while they are downloading. Each folder contains a "live show" with each song in the folder marked for the band and date. One of the folders downloaded would not let me look in it, "pj1992-03-16.shnf". It said:

C drive is not formated, would you like to format now?

Obviously I don't want to format my hard drive. When I go to delet it I get the error:

Cannot delete: The directory is not empty.

I have uninstalled the program and deleted everything else I can find associated with the program. How do I get rid of this little bastard? I also tried deleting in Safe Mode with no luck. I even shut down explorer and tried to delete with a command prompt which gave me this error:

    Data error: Cyclic Redundancy Check

Please, any help, guidance, or direction to more information is most welcome. I am using Windows XP. Thanks.

  2. What you have my friend, is called a "trojan". The last thing in the world you want to do is try to delete that little sucker anyways, so hang that option up. Call tech support for your PC immediately and ask for directions. ANY download of ANY kind that prompts you to format your hard drive is an intentional attack by whomever uploaded the file to begin with.

If you don't have tech support available on your PC any longer, I would suggest contacting a friend who knows what the hell they are doing, or a PC business locally that might offer some help. As for now, stop playing with the file altogether. Don't try to delete it, rename it, move it, or anything.

    Good luck.

Hahahaha call tech support oh come on it's just a trojin.Ok here you go first get yourself a firewall well becuse you need one try norton 10-1 says it will pick it up or at least give you the name.If it dosent ohwell go the hard rought unplug from the internet and when it reboots delete it and if that dosent work then boot into safe mode to delete it.If norton comes up with a name post it here and i will tell you how to get it off in no time flat.

I have installed Norton Anti-Virus and ran it with no results. I also used several online Virus detectors on this file with no luck. I tried booting into Safe Mode and trying to delete without success. I get the same responses each time.
When I try to look in the folder it asks if I want to format my hard drive, when I try to delete it it says it is not empty and has directories. I even tried to delete it with MSDOS prompt in Safe Mode without success. What the hell is this thing? In DOS I get the Cyclic Redundecy Check error described above. Could this just be a file that went into a bad sector on the Hard Drive? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  5. Before you go into safe mode make sure to unlock you file options to show system and hidden info BUT becarefull by doing so if you delete the wrong thing you can **** your computer up.And if you try this make sure when you go back to standered mode set you file options back to normal.
