    I use every software and every codec I can think of (including XviD) but I still seem to get jerky playback and if something moves fast in the shot, say a car drives past it also seems to have "blurring" lines in the picture on the moving object!

    Anyone got any ideas where im going wrong?

    sounds as if you've encoded using too low a bitrate
