  1. I recently upgraded to UVS 6.0 from 4.0. When trying to use the DVD wizard after editing my video, I get no choices in the "choose driver" box. It only has "no driver selected" and no choices. UVS 6.0 does come with the DVD plug in doesn't it? I am able to complete the files necessary to make a dvd, I think, but, it never goes to burn. I have been all over the Ulead site tonight, and am unable to find any information on the plug-in. I tried downloading updates to UVS 6.0 and the plug in, but, the sites are all either down, or not responding. Overloaded????

Compaq presario, amd 900, 512mb ram, Pioneer DVR-104 burner.

  2. Barky,

I have the same problem. Did you manage to resolve this ?

The VS6.01 patch makes it clear that there hundreds of CD burners that are not recognised in 6.0 that the patch supposedly fixes. Unfortunately, although mine is one of the ones that is supposed to be fixed (as in will now be recognised) by the DVD plug-in), having applied the patch it isn't.

    FWIW, I have a Philips CDD -R/RW 4851.

    Thanks for any help....

    Regards,

    David L.

I don't know about upgrading from 4 to 6, but certainly 6 works properly. ULEAD currently has DVD MovieFactory on sale at their site for $24.95. You could save your mpeg from VideoStudio6 and then import it into MovieFactory. It also allows you to import SVCD compatible files in 352x480.

  4. Eric,

Thanks for your reply. I'm interested to know what you mean by "...6 works properly".

Although Barky has the problem via an upgrade, mine was a clean new installation onto a Compaq Presario. When running it, everything works as one would expect (capturing, editing etc) until I go to create my VCD and get to step 6 of the DVD plug-in.

At that point, it has a dropdown box that should either contain or allow me to specify the drive letter for my CD burner (a Philips CDD -R/RW 4851 which came standard with the Presario). It doesn't. It just says "No driver selected" and does not allow me to enter a drive letter.

I also have VS6 installed on my laptop and it works fine - it recognises my Freecom PCMCIA CD burner and at this point specifies the correct drive letter.

So, I am assuming that VS6 does not recognise the Philips CD burner. To support this assumption, the list of fixes for VS6.01 states that one of the fixes is to add more CD burner support (see http://www.ulead.com/vs/compatibility2.htm) and the Philips CD burner is one of those that was supposed to require 6.01 to be recognised. However, after installing the patch (and 6.02), it is still not recognised.

If this is "...6 works properly" then either I'm missing the point (which is certainly possible) or expectations of software quality have changed since I was involved in software development.

If DVD Movie Factory uses the same DVD plug-in as VS6 then presumably the same problem will exist ?

Regrets for lack of clarity. By "works properly" I meant that it gives me two choices for my CD-R/RW (ULEAD driver or NTI driver), and two choices for my Lacie DVD-R/RAM.

It is certainly possible that the MovieFactory will have the same support. Unless you already have, I guess I would post on the ULEAD forum and give them a call.
