  1. I have been wondering a question. when buring vcd using nero, it always tells me how minutes's vcd can be burned on the cdr,(74min/650Mb, 80min/700Mb). Sefy mentioned that by his settings of the TMPGEnc to produce the mpg will let cdr contain more minites. So, which one does really matter when burning vcd?

  2. You're asking 3 questions, here's the info that I think will answer them:

    1) Using the standard VCD template, a 74min CDR will hold 74min of video and an 80min CDR will hold 80min of video. But often people want to put more video on a disc than this. The standard VCD video bitrate is 1150kbit/s, if I lower this I can put more video on each disc (but the quaility of the video will be less).

    2) Clearly the 80min CDR holds more data then the 74min CDR, at the same bitrate. That is at 900kbit/s a 74min CDR will hold 87min; while an 80min CDR will hold 95min.
Remember, this is at the same bitrate. But what if my movie is only 83min long, and I want to get it on one disc.

    3) Well if I use a bitrate calculator (look under the Tools link to the left) I'll find that:
    74min CDR video bitrate=964kbit/s (at audio=224kbit/s)
    80min CDR video bitrate=1061kbit/s (at audio=224kbit/s)
So for the same length movie I can use a higher bitrate on the 80min CDR than a 74min CDR. This makes sense since the stoarage capacity of an 80min CDR is higher.

The higher the bitrate the better the quaility of my encoded MPEG. An 80min CDR can hold more data then a 74min CDR at the same bitrate.
