I am interested in converting some VHS movies I have to DVD. I have purchased and installed a Pioneer DVD +Rw burner. I have a dazzle video caputre pluged from the VCR to the computer, and have put 5 minutes worth of TEST footage onto the computer. I have B's CLip/B's gold and DVD COMPLETE programs. All say they can make DVD movies. The TEST footage I put on the hard drive is .AVI format. I need to convert it to burn to DVD+RW disc. I have downloaded 2 different programs that say they can convert the file, but each time I try to convert them, it tells me it can not. One of the trouble shoots for this I read, is maybe it's not TRUE .avi and it needs to be converted to true .avi before i can convert to mpeg or dvd. I try to convert to .avi and it errors again. I appologize that I didn't write down the error message, but it for some reason I can not convert. I couldn't find anything in the forums to help me so I posted here. If it's already been covered then can someone point me in the right dirrection.

    Thanks
So new to this I SQUEEK

Once you have worked out what you want to do and have tried the methods suggested please come back and ask specific questions that people may be able to answer. Simply saying converting my avi doesn't work, without even mentioning the app you tried to use doesn't help us to help you.

BTW, for converting avi to DVD compatible mpeg-2 I would seriously suggest you take a look at TmpGenc.

Thank you for taking the time! I will read thses and then post furthur questions.

I am using Moviestar 5 for my capturing, It's part of the package I got from Dazzle when I purchased the VideoCreator 80. Thats the product I use to transfer my VHS tapes to my hard drive. When it writes to the hard drive it is saved as .AVI

Thanks again, I will return when I can ask a more intelligent question with a more specific set of circumstances.
