Here is my problem. I've been downloading movies offline (full DVD rips). Now to convert these divx movies to mpg, for burning, i use virualdub to extract the audio, then use TMPGEnc to combine that and the avi video into a mpg...pretty basic. Here is where the problem lies: Since these are full length movies I have to divide them into 2 parts to get the whole movie burned. I use the "source range" edit option in TMPGEnc to split up the flicks...the first movie I did worked fine, both parts. However, the next two movies I have burned were not. On both attempts the first parts were fine...but when i converted the second halves to mpg...the audio was like 10-20 secs ahead of the video. What throws me is that the first parts worked great but then second halves are all messed up, using the same audio and video files for combining. Also that first movie went flawless. Tell me what you think could be the problem and how I could fix it...I'll keep trying...it might be a fluke...but if you are smarter than I am (which I'm sure you are), just throw me a bone...thanks.

Encode the whole movie first, then use TMPGEnc to split the mpeg file.
