my question is, if i bought amd xp 2700+ and ripped a DvD and then encode it with TMPGenc, how long of an average time period would it take me to encode? like around 4 hours? please and thank you`

  2. I have a 733 Celeron overclocked to 850 w/384 MB of RAM and I can do ninety minutes of video with that in just a little over four hours.

Available memory will increase your speed. So will DDR. If you're gonna upgrade start with at least 512MB and go from there. I'm waiting patiently for another 256 in the mail for exactly that reason
entirely TOO much time on my hands

  3. It's hard to tell, like what motion search settings you have etc.

If you have a 1.2GHZ PentiumIII/Athlon now and it takes 8hours,
it will probably take 3-4hours with the new CPU.

But best value would be getting a XP2400 motherboard combo.
as a 2700 is just a tad better but cost twice as much.
