  1. I have win2k, Mimo and virtual dub. Made some updates based on this thread http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=120761

When I play one of my AVI files with MediaPlayer 7.01 there is a green "ghosting" and some pixalation. if I open that file in virtual dub it looks great.

I have another AVI that works fine.

The AVI I have problems with lists it video compression as XVID.

  2. Ok, so if the file plays great in virual dub. can I just redub it to divx, its now encoded with xvid?

Is this what virtual dub is for?

Not exactly. Find the Xvid codec and load it on your system.

Great! Then this is what the Newbie Guides say:
If you get an error message when opening the video or audio like file unsupported
or you get an empty(black) video preview window
or the video look wierd in the video preview window like green or purple or pink
Be sure that you have installed the DivX Codecs (both DivX 3.11, 4 and 5) and also try with the Nimo Codec Pack. If that does not work try to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video.
    Hello.

I think it's possible the xvid file is corrupt. I'm having the same problem. Is there a way to fix corrupt xvid files like divx files?

  7. Although XviD is included in Nimo Codec Pack it is always better to download pure XviD codec ( http://www.divx-digest.com/software/xvid.html ). Error fixing for XviD is the same as for DivX.

NOW I know the solution to this shit.
I uninstalled all DivX codecs and xvid codecs. Then I Installed only xvid to test if it worked and it did but with no sound cause it had ac3 sound.
You can install xvid codecs from here:
    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/xvid.html

Then I installed all DivX codecs separat (Not from Nimo).
    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html

After that I installed Nimo Pack but unchecked all divx codecs and the xvid codec and also uncheck a direct show filter which is Ffdshow DirectShow 2002-04-19. Install Nimo from here:
    http://www.btinternet.com/~nimosiro/

    Now all should work fine!
