I have a problem with a tape I'm trying to transfer, I've tried to 2 VCR's and each give a different problem. The first picture is from the Mitsubishi 2000u with the TBC & DNR off.
If I use the Mitsubishi with the TBC or if I use my other vcr the JVC 4000u I get this:
doesn't matter what I turn on or off on the JVC either I always get distortion on the top of the screen. I should mention the tape always sounds strange while rewinding almost like a grinding noise.

The first picture (Mitsubishi 200u) shows evidence of DNR, specifically temporal smoothing. I can see the tale tell shadows from at least three previous frames. Are you sure DNR is turned off?

Yeah, the Mitsubishi only has a single button for TBC+DNR I'm feeding it to a JVC DR-M100

You'll have to go with the lesser of evils.

Yeah I kinda figured that, I think I'll see if I can hunt down another copy of the tape and see if that will hopefully fix it before I give up all hope. Thanks for the looking at this guys, I appreciate your wisdom.
